Garbage At Lamartine Avenue Croton Trail Entrance In Yonkers

Garbage Remains on Yonkers Nature Trail

by Ardina Seward

On July 24th, 2017, SW Hamlet Hub posted a report about litter at the entrance to the Old Croton Aqueduct trail on Lamartine Avenue.

As of July 28th, not only does the garbage remain, but there has been additional dumping added to the pile.

As of July 28th, not only does the garbage remain, but there has been additional dumping added to the pile.
Directly across from the pile, graffiti artists have tagged a fence with new displays.  When the tire pile fills with water, it attracts mosquitoes that infiltrate the yards of the neighboring houses.
The rotting food attracts rodents to the area and a problem that once started as an eyesore is becoming a growing environmental issue.
