YONKERS CITY COUNCIL MAJORITY LEADER JOHN LARKIN


John Larkin, born and raised in Yonkers, has been an outspoken leader, community organizer and volunteer in Yonkers for many years. He has been active, not only in his neighborhood of Nepera Park – Grey Oaks, but with various organizations throughout the City of Yonkers.
He has served for the past 16 years as President of Nepera Park – Grey Oaks Neighborhood Association advocating for their fair share of services and implementing a variety of community events.
He was a member of the Tuckahoe Road Watchdog Group, which comprises over 20 civic associations, and was an active member of the First and Fourth Police Precinct Community Councils.
John has served on the board of the Untermyer Performing Arts Council for over 10 years and is very active in his local church, Saint Anthony’s in Nepera Park, serving as a Trustee and President of the Parish Council.
John retired from Verizon after 25 years where he worked as a Senior System Specialist supporting a large computer network environment.
John is an alumnus of Mercy College where he earned a Masters in Human Resource Management. He also recently completed a Masters in Education at Lehman College with New York State certification in Science.
John and his wife Liz have been married for 39 years and have four children, Erin (son-in-law Joe), Daniel, Sean, and Nora and two grandchildren, grandson Gavin John and grandaughter Reilly Elizabeth.
