YONKERS PROUD: Yonkers restores vandalized Columbus bust 

JOURNAL NEWS: Yonkers has restored a bust of Christopher Columbus that was destroyed by a vandal.

YONKERS, NY: Just in time for Columbus Day, a new bust was recently returned to a pedestal at 59 Park Hill Ave. in Columbus Memorial Park.

City officials could not be reached for comment about the bust's return Monday because City Hall was closed for the Columbus Day holiday observance.

Yonkers police arrested Emmanuel Santiago Batista, 27, last month for allegedly damaging the Columbus bust.

Police alleged that Batista attacked the bust with a baseball bat in "an act of spontaneous vandalism."

He was arraigned in Yonkers City Court on a felony charge of third-degree criminal mischief......
