Yonkers Tribune: Possible School Bus Strike Looms Over Yonkers
YONKERS, NY — November 1, 2017 — Transport Workers Union Local 100 President Tony Utano will hold a press conference Thursday, November 2, to set a strike deadline for the First Mile Square transportation company, which operates school bus routes for the City of Yonkers.
An official announcement and pre-strike rally is scheduled to take place at 70p Nepperhan Avenue, in Yonkers, NY 10703
Local 100 represents the approximately 600 bus operators, monitors and mechanics employed by First Mile Square. They have been working without a contract since June 30.
Workers are demanding one paid sick day a year, annual 3% pay raises and a guaranteed 25-hour work week.
