Yonkers Police Officer Shot In Violent Confrontation

A Yonkers police officer was shot in the face last night during a violent confrontation in a quiet neighborhood of private homes near the Saw Mill River Parkway, several blocks north of McLean Avenue. The officers had arrived in response to a neighbor reporting a suspicious vehicle occupied by two men, parked near Marshall Road and Ridge Drive. When the officers approached the car at least one of the men began firing at them with a handgun. One of the two officers, a woman, was shot through the chin, fortunately not a life-threatening wound. As more police arrived, neighbors reported hearing a furious ten-minute gun battle with as many as thirty shots fired. One of the men in the car was shot, apparently seriously wounded, and the other was arrested.

Police have not released the names of the men or the name of the officer who was wounded. Also no details as to why the car was parked or what the occupants may have been up to. Link to news article
