JOURNAL NEWS: Yonkers ranks high on safest cities list

Yonkers ranked high on a list of the safest cities in the country.

Yonkers placed 15 in overall safety on WalletHub.com's 2017 Safest Cities in America list, which compared crime statistics for 182 communities across the nation.

The study found that Yonkers had the fewest thefts per 1,000 residents at 13. That figure is 6.8 times fewer than in Salt Lake City, the city with the most at 88 per 1,000 residents.

Yonkers had the highest overall ranking for a city in New York. Other New York cities that made the top 100 included Buffalo at 59 and Rochester at 76.......
