JOURNAL NEWS: Friends and family remember Jonathan Maldonado at candlelight vigil

HARTSDALE - Friends and family of Jonathan Maldonado gathered at the intersection of Central Park Avenue and Harvard Drive on Wednesday evening, near where he had a fatal encounter with police officers last week.

The group of around 50 laughed, prayed and exchanged stories from the 21-year-old's life.

“I love you Jon, for forever and a day," said Nancy Khader-Maldonado, his mother. “Let us remember the good times we had with him.”

Maldonado, the nephew of Yonkers City Council President-elect Michael Khader, died last week after he swallowed an unknown substance and Greenburgh police used a Taser on him.....
