Today In Yonkers History - Dec. 5

Dec. 5, 1915: Second Precinct Patrolman John Fogarty arrested contracting foreman Nicholas Pierazio, who was caught with three pounds of dynamite and six detonators in his pockets. Apparently, the foreman had boarded a McLean Avenue trolley and threatened to explode the car, terrifying the passengers onboard.

Dec. 5, 1918: For the first time in the City of Yonkers’ history, the budget was submitted to the Common Council before the opening of the fiscal year. Up until this time, the budget had been submitted in April or May.
