PRESS RELEASE: Yonkers Police Arrest 3 Men for Illegal Dumping in Cook Field - Westchester County Police Aviation Unit Provides Eye in the Sky

YONKERS POLICE SUPPORTED BY WEST COUNTY PD AVIATION ARREST 3 FOR ILLEGAL DUMPING IN COOK FIELD

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: On Thursday, December 14th, 2017, at approximately 8:06 PM, members of the Yonkers Police Department 2nd Precinct responded to the area of Cook Field upon being alerted by the Westchester County Department of Public Safety Aviation Unit of an in-progress dumping incident in the parking lot adjacent to the field.

YONKERS: Officer Pilots Brady and Pucillo of the WCPD advised Yonkers that several occupants of a white van had dumped debris, and were attempting to leave the park with their headlights turned off.

Yonkers police arrived and intercepted the van; the occupants were identified and subsequently arrested for illegally dumping a couch and chair in the parking lot.

Further investigation yielded that the vehicle was not registered and had improper license plates affixed – the vehicle was impounded for the illegal dumping and Vehicle & Traffic Law violations.

The defendants are identified as van operator Abdallah ALRABADI, a 35 year old male resident of Kimball Avenue, Yonkers; and passengers Luis MONTES, a 21 year old male resident of Roberts Avenue, Yonkers; and Julio LUGO, a 25 year old male resident of Orlando, Florida.

All three men were charged with City Ordinance Violation code 91.38 Dumping Prohibited, an unclassified Misdemeanor, in addition to several moving violation summonses.

Mayor Mike Spano stated, “The quality of life of our residents is one of our top priorities so when individuals are caught dumping on Yonkers, it is not tolerated. We have increased the penalties and fines so to discourage this illegal and disrespectful action. We plan on selling the vehicle used in this case to pay for the mess. Let this be a lesson – Don’t Dump on Yonkers!”

Police Commissioner #CharlesGardner stated, “Illegal dumping is a crime, and diminishes the quality of life in our City. The Yonkers Police Department working together with our partners in law enforcement will deliver perpetrators who engage in this illegal activity into the Criminal Justice System where they will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law, including the seizure of their vehicle. I would like to thank the Westchester County Department of Public Safety Aviation Unit for their invaluable assistance with these arrests.”

The prosecution of this case is being managed by the Corporation Counsel of the City of Yonkers.

NOTE: Booking charges are merely accusations and the defendant(s) are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
