NEWS 12: Guardian: Hawthorne Cedar Knolls School 'a setup for failure'

YONKERS - A parent told News 12 that she won't send her child back to Hawthorne Cedar Knolls School – saying the facility is a "setup for failure."

Miranda Nelson spoke with News 12 about the experiences of 17-year-old #NylaSatchelle, of Yonkers, at the school. #MirandaNelson is her legal guardian.

"It hurts. She is somewhere she can't learn, can't concentrate, can't function," says Nelson.

The Hawthorne Cedar Knolls School sits on the same campus as the Hawthorne Cedar Knolls Residential Treatment Center, which is for troubled kids.

That treatment center is under scrutiny following a New York Times article reporting dozens of children there run away from campus.

In one case, a runaway ended up as a victim in in a sex-trafficking ring.....
