Busy Time for Yonkers Costume Shop

Yonkers Costume Shop Dresses The Stars For Halloween

by Sam Barron

Zweibon is the owner of Beyond Costumes at 530 Nepperhan Avenue Yonkers, believed to be one of the oldest costume shops in Westchester. Zweibon has been helping people have memorable Halloweens since she bought the store on a whim 19 years ago.

The 20,000-square-foot store dresses people from all over the tri-state area and its costumes have appeared on many TV shows and stage projections. Last year, Madonna got her Halloween costumes at the store -- she went as a clown, while her children went as an astronaut, Donald Trump, and a werewolf.

Zweibon said she gets more adults than children and that customers come from all over the tri-state area, especially New York City, which she says lacks an adequate costume shop.

It's in the old carpet mill complex -- No. 4. There are of course big costume stores in Manhattan. E.g., Gothic Renaissance on Fourth Avenue just south of Union Square. But I would guess the prices are less scary in Yonkers, and the selection more family-friendly.
