Yonkers City Council President Liam McLaughlin Nabs Every Law Enforcement Endorsement

YONKERS, NY – Nearly every law enforcement union in New York State has endorsed Yonkers City Council President Liam McLaughlin for re-election.

The Affiliated Police Associations of Westchester (APA) which represents fifty-two PBAs on the local, county and state level, on Thursday announced it’s endorsement of McLaughlin along with the Police Conference of New York, the New York State Association of PBAs, and the Detective’s Endowment Association.

Yonkers City Council President Liam McLaughlin said, “As the law and order candidate in this race, our campaign is built upon standing up for the men and women of law enforcement and giving them the resources they need to provide safer streets. Blue lives matter, and I will take a stand, not a knee, when it comes to supporting them.”
Keith Olson, President of the Affiliated Police Associations of Westchester said, “We’re here today to announce our unanimous endorsement of Liam McLaughlin. The APA is proudly endorsing Liam McLaughlin and it’s the easiest decision we’ve made in this political season. Make no mistake about it, Liam McLaughlin is the law and order candidate in the race for Yonkers City Council President. He is the guy.”
Owing to the diversity and depth of its membership, the APA is among the most respected organizations in the State on law enforcement issues. The APA includes unions from every municipality in Westchester as well as New York City, State, County and local PBAs.
McLaughlin also received the nod from the Detective’s Endowment Association, the Police Conference of New York, and the New York State Association of Police Benevolent Associations.
The Detectives’ Endowment Association, Inc., represents 17,000 active and retired New York City Police Department Detectives. In a signed letter to the Council President, Michael J. Palladino, president of the Detectives Endowment Association, said “Our endorsement is based on Liam’s support for law enforcement and his concern for the working men and women of New York State. We look forward to working with him on issues that affect the police and labor communities and the public safety of the residents of New York.”
The Police Conference of New York, Inc., founded in 1925, is recognized by key state elected officials and department heads as the preeminent professional police union in New York State and represents 230 local unions, 8 regional conferences and one retired association totaling more than 25,000 members. The endorsement includes the New York State Troopers PBA, among others.
The New York State Association of Police Benevolent Associations is comprised of unions and member groups representing over 45,000 law enforcement officers across New York State. In addition to the NYPD Lieutenants Benevolent Association and Captains Endowment Association, the organization includes PBAs with MTA, Port Authority and departments throughout the state.
