PRESS RELEASE: Matt Orefice continues Campaign by going Door to Door

3000 Doors Knocked on and Counting

Yonkers, N.Y. -  With less than a month away from election day Matt Orefice (Or-e-fee-che) continues to go from door to door reaching residents of District 6 for their support.

"Many of the same issues arise in speaking with residents and as a homeowner, with young kids in school, I can relate. It is always a pleasure to meet and speak to fellow Yonkers residents - and this is a rewarding experience that I will endeavor to continue after elected into office," states Orefice.

Campaign manager, Tony Carrizales, notes that "we knew coming into this election we would not have the financial resources of other candidates. We are not going to be able to match the mailings, commercials, or paid advertisements of other candidates. Matt understood that he would have to win this election door to door and that is exactly what he is doing." In addition to Matt's daily campaign visiting various neighborhoods through the District, the campaign has held regular weekend gathering of supports to help canvas. " The support continues to grow and every weekend the group of individuals willing to go out and knock for Matt increases," Carrizales points out.

Orefice and his campaign aim to visit as many residents as possible before election day on November 7th. Campaign records indicate that over 6500 houses have been visited with nearly half of those attributed to Matt alone. "I am confident that come on election day the residents will come out to vote and take part in our democratic practices. It is my responsibility to share with them why I should earn their vote - with my commitment to building stronger communities, fighting against new taxes, enhancing our schools and working collaboratively with Yonkers leadership," Orefice proclaims. Their next canvasing event is meeting at Yonkers Will Library Saturday, October 21st at 11:00a

Orefice is the endorsed candidate for the Democratic Party, Working Families Party, and Women’s Equality Party. Orefice works as an environmental chemist for Westchester County’s Department of Laboratories and Research. Orefice also serves as the Chairman of the Yonkers Human Rights Commision, member of the 1st Precinct Police Council, PTA Dad, YPIE Student Mentor, and a sports coach for the Woodlean Boys and Girls Club. Matt (41), and his wife Sweet Avigale, have two children Avery (7) and Amira (5).
