JOURNAL NEWS: Yonkers' Glenwood Power Station partly stabilized

The first phase to stabilize the once crumbling Glenwood Power Station in Yonkers is done.

The Mid-Hudson Regional Economic Development Council announced the stabilization's completion in its 2017 progress report.

"Having recently completed phase one of the project, they are now moving forward with subsequent phases, bringing the once blighted and defunct power plant back to life as a tourist attraction and recreational asset for the region," the recently released online report stated. "Once all phases are completed, this project will lead to further investment for the creation of a waterfront multi-use event and exhibition space."

The council awarded the Glenwood Power Plant Project $1 million in 2012. The roughly $15.7 million project consists of necessary structural stabilization, priority utility work, and access improvements on a three-phase project will allow for the adaptive reuse of the former railroad power plant....
