JOURNAL NEWS: Ginsburg may build 600 apartments near Yonkers' Ludlow Station

The 2.26-acre, city-owned property at 150 Downing St. would be sold to Ginsburg for $3 million. The vacant land was formerly used by the public works department for storage.

"It's situated approximately 800 feet from the Hudson River with an elevation of 35 feet, so it has fantastic panoramic views of the Hudson River and the Palisades," Yonkers' corporation counsel #MichaelCurti told the City Council's Real Estate Committee on Tuesday.

As part of the land deal, Ginsburg would improve the adjacent Anthony O'Boyle Memorial Park on Hawthorne Avenue by creating two enclosed dog parks and installing new benches, picnic tables and a playground.

Curti told elected officials that before any construction can happen, pollution from a former manufactured gas plant must be removed from the ground. The clean-up will be done by Con Edison, according to Michael Curti, who estimated that at least 18 months will pass for the required public-review steps before any construction can begin.

As part of the development, the mixed industrial and residential area around 150 Downing St. will be rezoned.....
