CITY OF YONKERS: Mayor Mike Spano​ Presents 2017 Curb Appeal Awards to Two Yonkers Homeowners


Yonkers, NY – October 2, 2017 – Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano presented the City’s fifth annual Curb Appeal Awards to two Yonkers homeowners for their homes’ exceptional curb appeal and charming landscaping. 

The winners were selected based on nominations from Yonkers residents

“The Curb Appeal awards are the perfect way for our residents to demonstrate pride in our City, starting with our neighborhoods,” said Mayor Mike Spano.

“It’s about showcasing how beautiful our communities are and paying tribute to the Yonkers residents who have gone above and beyond. This year’s curb appeal winners clearly demonstrate pride in their homes and pride in the City of Yonkers.”

“Mayor Mike Spano’s Curb Appeal Awards” were presented at 31 Durst Place in the Dunwoodie section of Yonkers, at the home of Jesus and Kelsey Pichardo, whose beautiful home won the Landscaping Award, with its perfectly manicured lawns, well-kept flowers, shrubs and plants.

The award for Exterior Improvement went to Jack and Jessica Ahearn who live at 100 Carver Terrace, which is located in the Colonial Heights section of Yonkers.

This 20th century home underwent extensive restoration within the last decade.

The Ahearn’s invested in restoring the property back to its original beauty adding beautiful landscapes and exterior designs, including a pool house that borders the adjacent street.

Mayor Mike Spano selected the winners based on nominations from Yonkers residents submitted on the City’s website.

The winners were selected based on the following criteria: the property has a pleasant appearance, is well-maintained and contributes to community appearance; a recent effort was made to improve and enhance the appearance of the property; the property owner demonstrates originality and creativity and; the property stands out as an attractive property in its neighborhood.

Yonkers officials have given Curb Appeal Awards two homes for their landscaping and appearance.

The landscaping award went to Jesus and Kelsey Pichardo for their home at 31 Durst Place in the city's Dunwoodie section. The home features manicured lawns, flowers, shrubs and plants surrounded by decorative brick and metal fencing.
