2017 ELECTIONS: John Rubbo Wins Independence and Green party Write-in Primaries
PRESS RELEASE: John Rubbo Enters General Election with Five Party Lines
YONKERS, NY: The Westchester Board of Elections has certified the Primary Election results of the Independence and Green party primaries for #Yonkers City Council Fourth District.
John Rubbo has been declared the winner with an 11% margin of victory.
"I am humbled that the voters of the Independence and Green Parties have chosen me to represent them on Election Day," said John Rubbo.
"I will work hard for them and their families and will not let them down," he added.
John Rubbo will represent the Fourth Council District on five party lines; Republican, Conservative, Independence, Reform, and Green.
John Rubbo was born and raised in the city of Yonkers.
He wants to give his two young children, Dominic and John, the same opportunities and experiences he had.
With Yonkers proximity to the tri-state area and New York City, John Rubbo believes that Yonkers is at a turning point in its history.
“Serious builders and investors are looking beyond Brooklyn, beyond Manhattan and the Bronx and have set their sights on Yonkers. They want to invest here. We are truly beginning the next chapter in Yonkers’ rich history,” said John Rubbo.
John Rubbo has experience working in government.
Between 2004 and 2009, Rubbo worked in the Communications Office of the Mayor in the City of Yonkers.
During that time, John Rubbo began volunteering for a number of organizations around Yonkers and worked closely with community leaders to address the many issues that affect our everyday quality of life.
The relationships John Rubbo built during his time at City Hall remain strong to this day.
John Rubbo plans on entering City Hall as a Councilman and working with the hardworking people who help make Yonkers a cleaner, safer and better place to live, work & play.
Following his departure in 2009 from Yonkers City Hall, John Rubbo started a business in financial transaction processing with a nationally distributed software company.
Then, in 2013, John and business partner #NickCalifano tactically planned to open a craft brewery in Yonkers.
John Rubbo’s organizational experience and #NickCalifano’s sales experience allowed the two to begin a business that is now a cultural hub for Yonkers.
Yonkers Brewing Company now employs 11 full-time employees and 20 part-time employees and growing.
As the national stage is ripped apart by partisan politics, John Rubbo stands by his values and convictions and seeks a bi-partisan council to work with this democratic mayor to find solutions to the problems that lie ahead.
“We must work together to solve the issues that plague our city,” stated John Rubbo.
John Rubbo continued, “Yonkers has a school system that is treated unfairly by NYS. Each and every year we are shortchanged by NYS, which leads Yonkers to make difficult choices when preparing to pass the budget. If the proper funding levels were returned to the Yonkers school system, then Yonkers would be afforded an opportunity to reallocate resources to essential city services like police, fire, and sanitation. Instead, Yonkers will be forced to make cuts to these services because the city is shortchanged by NYS, and that is unacceptable.”
The fourth Council District is currently represented by #DennisShepherd. Dennis is term limited and has served to the people of the fourth Council District for the past eight years.
John Rubbo Campaign has launched its social media pages and website, @Yonkers4Rubbo and www.Rubbo2017.com
