Yonkers Resident Celebrates 25 Years Of Teaching

The elementary school teacher was recently honored by the Hastings-on-Hudson Union Free School District for her 25 years of service. Troop, who lives in Yonkers, currently teaches 4th grade at Hillside Elementary School.

Following multiple acts of vandalism on Christopher Columbus statues since August, a militant antifa group has announced "Deface Columbus Day" on Oct. 9 as a coordinated campaign to deface and destroy more historical monuments. In Yonkers, New York, a Columbus statue was beheaded on Aug. 30. Antifa vandals were also responsible for the destruction of the oldest Christopher Columbus monument in the nation on Aug. 21. Vandals left the messages "Racism: Tear it down" and "The future is racial and economic justice."

YONKERS, NY, Friday, September 22, 2017 - It's a homecoming weekend of sorts, with Yonkers Trot winner Top Flight Angel returning Saturday night as the harness racing conquering hero. A pair of groupings, at $85,250 and $86,750, respectively, go as the fourth and fifth races in an event named for the one of the Raceway's long-time popular horse owners.

Westchester Man Caught With Hundreds Of Images Of Child Porn, DA Says

A Westchester man is facing a felony charge after being caught with a collection of child porn at his home computer. Westchester County District Attorney Anthony Scarpino, Jr. announced on Wednesday that 29-year-old Richard Silva of Yonkers has been arraigned on a felony charge of possessing an obscene sexual performance by a child.
