YONKERS, NY – Every law enforcement union in Yonkers is endorsing Yonkers City Council President Liam McLaughlin for re-election. On Thursday, the Yonkers PBA and Yonkers CLSA announced their endorsement of McLaughlin.
Keith Olson, president of the Yonkers Police Benevolent Association said, “We are very excited to endorse Liam. When it comes to public safety, there is no other candidate. We’ve worked with Liam for years and he has always had a strong eye and strong will toward bringing the necessary public safety to the City of Yonkers. He’s been a great advocate for the Yonkers Police Department.”
Detective-Lieutenant Chris Sapienza, president of the Yonkers Captains, Lieutenants and Sergeants Association said, “We proudly endorse Liam McLaughlin for City Council President. We believe that Liam’s know how, leadership and bipartisanship can best represent the CLSA in the challenging times ahead. It isn’t merely a matter of supporting the best candidate, I’ve known Liam for more than forty years. Liam is the most un-politician like politician I’ve ever met, I know him merely as a hardworking accountant, attorney and family man who considers public safety and law enforcement a priority. He gets my highest endorsement, not only as president of the CLSA, but as a taxpayer, veteran and a friend.”
Yonkers City Council President Liam McLaughlin said, “Thank you to the hard working men and women of Yonkers’ finest. I couldn’t be prouder than standing here receiving this endorsement. There’s a lot of great things that are going on around our city. We’ve got a lot of economic development, we’re trying to create jobs and work together in a bipartisan way. If Albany and Washington did what we do here in Yonkers, we’d be in a much better place. But none of that is possible without these hardworking men and women of the Yonkers Police Department. We can’t attract the economic development if we don’t have safe streets, and Yonkers is one of the safest big cities of its size in the United States which is due in very large part to the men and women of the Yonkers PD.”
The endorsement adds to the growing list of organizations and unions backing McLaughlin’s bid, which notably includes the New York State League of Conservation Voters.
