1880 Yonkers Telephone Directory - Clipping from the Herald Statesman, Feb. 9, 1932


A feature article, looking back on the first half century of telephone service in Yonkers, and concentrating on the earliest days

As a sidebar to the article, there is a reprinting of what seems to be the first Yonkers telephone directory.

Of course it isn't a real "phone book" -- it's just a long list. It seems to be from 1880. 1880 was only four years from 1876, when Alexander Graham Bell demonstrated his invention at the Centennial Exposition world's fair.
